SHARKGUARD

Six epoxy coated specialized magnets are imbedded into the foam beneath the HDPE slick bottom of the board, projecting a magnetic field into the water around the board rider.  This is a known and effective shark deterrent.  The magnetic field overwhelms a shark's sensory electroreceptor system and causes discomfort in the animal.  No harm is done to the shark.  No batteries or recharging are required. Visit https://www.rock-itsurf.com/pages/sharkguard-bodyboard for more details, links to testing videos, peer reviewed scientific tests and more.

SEA-CAMO ZEBRA STRIPED BOTTOM

In addition to the patented SHARKGUARD technology, we add a visual deterrent to our boards as well. In 2013 a University of Western Australia neurobiologist conducted research that indicated a zebra striped pattern was a deterrence to sharks & presented their results in a Ted Talk. The patterns disperse the shark’s ability to identify the item, and mimic non-food source items in their environment.

CONSTRUCTION

The Rock-It BIG SOFTY with SHARKGUARD is made with quality construction and environmentally sensitive processes. Three marine wooden stringers are coated with an epoxy nano-coating to resist water absorption, then surrounded with a proprietary EPS foam and a color-fast & UV resistant soft top layer. The soft top has a wide texture and doesn't require wax, although wax will improve grip.

The entire board is heat laminated with no harmful dyes, glues, resins or toxins in the production process, and manufactured in a facility that uses collected rainwater. All materials used are recyclable. All Rock-It surfboards come with a one year warranty against manufacturing defects.

SharkGuard Reduces Risk But Does Not Eliminate It

• SharkGuard is a shark deterrent that helps reduce the risk of unwanted shark interactions, but we do not guarantee complete protection or prevention of all shark encounters. There is no guarantee of zero shark interactions with the device.
• Ambush attacks from large predatory species will not be deterred by SharkGuard.

Magnetic Field & Medical Devices

• Because SharkGuard uses strong magnets, people with pacemakers, defibrillators, or other implanted medical devices should not attempt to handle or ride a board containing SharkGuard technology without consulting a doctor.
• These magnets can also disrupt sensitive electronics (e.g., hard drives, credit cards, cell phones) if placed too close (recommended at least ~12 inches/30 cm away).

Care Tip: when not in the water, keep the soft-top out of direct sunlight.
